Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: nattokinase 100 mg per capsule. Nattokinase is an enzyme derived from natto, a traditional fermented soybean food, and is thought to work by breaking down fibrin — a protein involved in blood clotting.

The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, stearic acid, and silicon dioxide) that serve as binders and fillers.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Nattokinase's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Heart and circulatory health support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Angina, Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular disease (CVD), Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) — and 4 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Nattokinase is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Angina (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Nattokinase is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular disease (CVD), Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, and more.

The evidence for nattokinase isn't established in our data. We hold effectiveness ratings for several uses — angina, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic fatigue syndrome — but all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate.

That means we don't have enough high-quality studies to say whether it works for these purposes. If you're considering it for a specific health goal, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about what research does exist outside this supplement database.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Nattokinase is generally well tolerated short-term, but its blood-thinning action means caution is warranted if you have any bleeding risk. Rare cases of bleeding — including serious brain bleeding — have been reported, particularly when combined with aspirin or other blood thinners.

Nattokinase should be avoided during pregnancy (not enough safety data) and while breastfeeding (safety is unknown). A small number of people sensitive to natto can develop allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, within 2 hours of taking it — symptoms may affect the throat and voice box.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Nattokinase.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 289 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your pharmacist before using this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel, and others) or blood pressure medications. Both interactions are Moderate severity and can affect how these drugs work — or increase your bleeding risk.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Nattokinase may be worth considering if you're exploring natural approaches to circulation and cardiovascular health, but it's not for everyone. If you take any blood thinner, antiplatelet drug, or blood pressure medication, talk with your pharmacist before starting — the interaction risk is real.

Pregnant or breastfeeding? Skip it.

And if you're allergic to soy or natto, avoid this product.

Formula

Nattokinase is an enzyme isolated from natto, a traditional Japanese fermented soy food. Natto has been consumed for thousands of years for its numerous health promoting properties. More recently, both clinical and non-clinical studies have demonstrated that nattokinase can help to promote heart and circulatory health by supporting normal blood clotting functions. Our Nattokinase is derived from non-GMO soy and has 2,000 FUs (Fibrinolytic Units) per 100 mg serving.

Nattokinase 100 mg by Baar Nature's Blessing: Common Questions

Does Nattokinase 100 mg by Baar Nature's Blessing interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Nattokinase 100 mg has a known interaction with 289 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Nattokinase 100 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take nattokinase with aspirin?
Not without checking with your pharmacist first. There's a documented case of serious brain bleeding when someone combined nattokinase with aspirin, so this is a real concern. Your pharmacist can review your specific situation and help you decide if it's safe.
Will nattokinase lower my blood pressure?
Some research suggests nattokinase may reduce blood pressure. If you're already on blood pressure medication, adding nattokinase could push it too low. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before you start.
Is nattokinase safe if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. There isn't enough safety data during pregnancy, so it's best avoided. Safety while breastfeeding is also unknown, so avoid it then too.
What's nattokinase made from?
It's an enzyme derived from natto, a fermented soybean food. If you're allergic to soy or natto, this product isn't for you — allergic reactions can happen within 2 hours of taking it.
Does nattokinase actually work?
We don't have enough reliable evidence to say. The product is promoted for heart health and circulation, but our data shows insufficient evidence to rate it for angina, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, or other common uses.
