Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
NattoZyme contains one active ingredient: nattokinase NSK-SD, a protein-digesting enzyme derived from natto (fermented soybeans). Nattokinase is traditionally used in Japanese cuisine and has been studied for potential cardiovascular effects.
The softgel capsule also contains inactive ingredients: soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, soybean lecithin, glycerin fatty acid ester, and beeswax.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold rates nattokinase as having insufficient reliable data for angina, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic fatigue syndrome. That means the research so far isn't strong enough to confirm whether it works for these uses.
If you're thinking about trying it for a specific condition, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current science actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Nattokinase is generally well tolerated short-term, but because of its blood-thinning effects, caution is advised for anyone with a bleeding disorder or high bleeding risk. Rare cases of bleeding — including one severe brain hemorrhage — have been reported.
The product may also trigger hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis) in people sensitive to natto or its components. Nattokinase is not recommended during pregnancy due to insufficient safety data.
It should also be avoided while breastfeeding for the same reason. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Stop and check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet drug (like warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — nattokinase increases bleeding risk, with at least one case of serious brain hemorrhage documented. Also check if you take blood pressure medication (Moderate risk of blood pressure dropping too low).
These are the two main medication types to verify before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
NattoZyme is generally well tolerated short-term, but it's not for you if you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or blood pressure medications without checking first — the interaction risk is real. It's also not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Before you start, confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist that it won't interact with your medications or health conditions.

NattoZyme Nattokinase 100 mg by NutriCology Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NattoZyme Nattokinase 100 mg by NutriCology interacts with two major drug categories.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, apixaban, or aspirin): nattokinase has blood-thinning effects of its own, and combining it with these medications raises the risk of bleeding — including a documented case of brain hemorrhage in someone taking nattokinase with aspirin.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second interaction is with blood pressure medications. Nattokinase may lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it alongside antihypertensive drugs could increase the risk of blood pressure dropping too low (hypotension).
Both interactions are rated Moderate in severity. Altogether, these interactions span 289 individual medications.
If you take any blood thinner, antiplatelet drug, or blood pressure medication, check your exact prescriptions with the search tool on this page before starting nattokinase, and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist.
