Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are generally well tolerated in healthy people and children, though those with weakened immune systems should be cautious. Pectin from food and typical supplement amounts is generally well tolerated.

Mild digestive side effects like bloating, gas, loose stools, or mild cramps can occur with probiotics or pectin, though these are uncommon with the probiotics in this blend specifically. Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.

A small clinical study shows that taking digoxin with a kaolin-pectin suspension reduces the absorption of digoxin by about 62%. It is unclear if these effects are due to pectin, kaolin, or the combination.
