Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic neem powder at 500 mg per capsule. Neem is derived from the neem tree and has been used in traditional medicine, particularly in Ayurveda, for skin and oral health.
The capsule also contains three inactive ingredients—vegetable cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide—which are common fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence supports neem for two uses: it's possibly effective for gingivitis (gum inflammation) and for lice. Dental plaque is also listed as possibly effective.
For acne and a parasitic skin infection called tungiasis, the available evidence isn't strong enough to rate how well it works. If you're considering neem for any of these, manage expectations based on what the science actually shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Neem leaf powder, as used here, appears generally well tolerated in adults when taken by mouth, though rigorous safety testing hasn't been done. The main topical side effect is contact dermatitis in people with sensitive skin.
However, serious concerns exist: neem oil and seed extracts can be toxic if swallowed, and in children, oral neem oil has caused severe problems. Rare cases in adults have reported heart rhythm problems (ventricular fibrillation), kidney damage, and breakdown of red blood cells—particularly in people with a specific genetic condition (G6PD deficiency).
During pregnancy, neem should be avoided because it may affect fertility and the developing baby. The safety data during breastfeeding is too limited, so it's best avoided then as well.
If you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this neem product, double-check the following medication types with your pharmacist or doctor: antidiabetes drugs (risk of low blood sugar), any medications processed by CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2C9, or CYP2C8 liver enzymes, P-glycoprotein substrate drugs handled by your kidneys, and immunosuppressants. Use the search tool on this page to look up your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Neem may help with gum inflammation or lice based on current evidence, but it carries moderate interaction risks with a large number of medications and serious safety concerns in children and during pregnancy. If you take any prescription medication—especially diabetes drugs, heart medications, or immune-suppressing drugs—check your exact medications against the interaction tool before starting, and run it by your own doctor or pharmacist.
Pregnant people and those breastfeeding should avoid it.

Neem 500 mg by Amazing India Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Neem 500 mg by Amazing India, through its neem powder, interacts with a significant number of medications.
The most serious documented concern is with antidiabetes drugs—neem can lower blood sugar levels, and when combined with diabetes medications, it may push your glucose too low (hypoglycemia). Some people taking metformin have experienced this effect.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beyond that, neem theoretically may increase blood levels and effects of several drug categories processed by your liver or kidneys: CYP1A2 substrates, CYP3A4 substrates, CYP2C9 substrates, CYP2C8 substrates, and P-glycoprotein substrates. These enzymes and transporters handle a very broad range of medications—everything from heart drugs to cancer therapies to antibiotics.
Because the research is so far in test tubes only, we haven't seen these interactions confirmed in real patients yet, but the potential exists.
Neem may also weaken the effectiveness of immunosuppressants (drugs that calm an overactive immune system), since animal research suggests neem boosts immune activity.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,014 individual medications. Before you start this supplement, search your exact prescriptions in the tool on this page, and talk with your own doctor or pharmacist to make sure there's no conflict.
