What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is pure papaya powder — just one active ingredient. Each serving contains 3.5 grams of papaya fruit powder.
The only inactive ingredient listed is maltodextrin, a common binder used in powders.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for papaya powder isn't established in our data. The product facts list several uses — aging skin, androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss), gallbladder cancer, colorectal cancer, and diabetes — but the effectiveness rating for all of them is insufficient reliable evidence to rate.
That means the studies either aren't there, aren't high quality, or aren't consistent enough for us to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Ripe papaya fruit eaten as food is generally well tolerated. But concentrated papaya supplements are less well studied than the whole fruit, so there's less safety information for supplement amounts.
You should avoid unripe (green) papaya, papaya latex, and papaya seeds. The most common side effects from papaya leaf extract are nausea and vomiting.
Allergic reactions can occur, especially in people sensitive to latex, and may include itchy watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, abdominal cramps, sweating, or diarrhea. Serious allergic reactions are rare but possible.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check whether you use diabetes medications, warfarin or other blood thinners, amiodarone (a heart rhythm drug), or levothyroxine (thyroid hormone) — all have documented moderate-level interactions with papaya.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ripe papaya as food is safe for most people, but this concentrated supplement form has less safety data and several documented interactions with important medications. If you take diabetes drugs, blood thinners like warfarin, amiodarone, or levothyroxine, you should check with your pharmacist before using it.
Eat the fruit if you enjoy it; supplements are best avoided unless you've talked to your pharmacist.

Papaya Fruit Powder 3.5 g by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Papaya Fruit Powder by BulkSupplements.com has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinner warfarin (Coumadin): papaya extract containing papain may increase warfarin's effects and side effects, raising bleeding risk. A case report documented a patient stable on warfarin who developed dangerously high levels after taking a papain-containing supplement.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions are also documented with diabetes drugs (antidiabetes medications), where fermented papaya may add to their blood-sugar-lowering effect. Amiodarone (Cordarone), a heart rhythm medication, may have delayed absorption and increased levels when papaya is used beforehand.
Levothyroxine (Synthroid), a thyroid hormone, may be less effective with large papaya consumption — one case report involved a patient who developed low thyroid symptoms after eating 5–6 papaya fruits daily.
Altogether, these interactions span 91 individual medications. Please check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Papaya Fruit Powder 3.5 g with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Papaya, Powder
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, papaya extract may increase the levels and clinical effects of amiodarone.
Animal research in rats shows that a single oral dose of papaya extract, as well as multiple doses of papaya extract daily over 14 days, prior to a single dose of amiodarone delays the time to maximum amiodarone concentration. However, only the 14-day papaya extract regimen increases systemic amiodarone exposure by 60% to 70%. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Concomitant use of antidiabetic drugs with fermented papaya can produce additive effects. It is unclear if other forms of papaya have the same effect.
A small low-quality clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are taking glibenclamide shows that taking a fermented papaya preparation 3 grams daily for 2 months decreases fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels when compared to baseline. Additionally, of the 25 patients in the study, 9 required a reduction in glibenclamide dose.
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Theoretically, consuming large quantities of papaya fruit can reduce the clinical effects of levothyroxine.
In one case-report, a 37-year-old male with a history of thyroidectomy who was stabilized on levothyroxine for 5 years presented with hypothyroidism after consuming 5-6 papaya fruits daily for 14 days during vacation. In a controlled re-challenge test involving 5-6 papayas daily, the patient remained euthyroid for 7 days, but developed mild hypothyroidism after 14 days. Both times, thyroid levels normalized 40-45 days after discontinuing papaya.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, concomitant use of warfarin with papain-containing papaya extract might increase the effects and side effects of warfarin.
In one case report, a patient previously stable on warfarin was found to have an international normalization ratio (INR) of 7.4, which was attributed to ingestion of a supplement containing papain from papaya extract.
