Juniper is generally well tolerated at food doses, but medicinal amounts may irritate your kidneys and shouldn't be used long-term. Short-term use in low doses appears generally well tolerated, though allergies and skin irritation have been reported, especially with repeated exposure or concurrent sun exposure.
Linden is generally well tolerated as a tea, but human safety data are limited; one case report documented an allergic reaction to linden pollen in tea and contact skin irritation from a linden-containing shampoo. English holly leaf can cause stomach irritation, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting — the spines may injure your mouth or digestive tract — and the berries are toxic; even a small number (2–5 berries) can cause vomiting and diarrhea in children.
Juniper is unsafe in pregnancy and should be avoided while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data. Linden safety isn't well studied in pregnancy or lactation.
English holly has no safety data and should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you're pregnant or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
