Metaglip combines two diabetes medicines: glipizide, which nudges your pancreas to release more insulin, and metformin, which helps your body use insulin better. Both work to bring blood sugar down. Here's the wrinkle with juniper: in animal studies it appears to lower blood sugar on its own. So the worry is a simple add-on effect, where juniper plus your medication pushes your glucose a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or suddenly hungry. I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not strong human proof, and the small amount in gin or food is unlikely to matter. Still, if you want to try juniper supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.
