Here's the simple version: your Atacand HCT already contains a water pill (hydrochlorothiazide) paired with candesartan to lower blood pressure. Juniper berry is thought to have its own mild diuretic, or water-pulling, effect. Stack the two together and in theory you could lose a bit more fluid than intended.

If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy when standing, more thirsty, or notice your blood pressure running low. Hydrochlorothiazide can also nudge your potassium and sodium levels, and extra fluid loss could add to that. To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how juniper behaves, not strong human data, and occasional culinary amounts (like a gin-flavored dish) are unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements taken regularly are the real question. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding juniper.
