Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: piracetam, a compound used to support cognitive function and treat certain neurological conditions. The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Piracetam is possibly effective for tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements caused by some psychiatric medications), breath-holding attacks in children, vertigo (dizziness), epilepsy, recovery after coronary artery bypass graft surgery, and dyslexia. The evidence for each of these is preliminary, so talk to your doctor about whether it's right for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Piracetam is a drug, not a true dietary supplement, and it's unapproved in the U.S., so product quality can vary. When taken orally, it's generally well tolerated, though some people report constipation, stomach upset, high blood pressure, rash, or weight gain.
Rarely, it can cause dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, anxiety, behavioral changes, slurred speech, or sleep problems — and in one case, abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding. Avoid piracetam during pregnancy because there isn't enough safety data.
Don't use it while breastfeeding either, as it may pass into breast milk and safety is unknown.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before you take piracetam, check whether you're on any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and similar medications all carry a Major interaction risk. Use the medication checker on this page to review your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Piracetam may help with certain neurological conditions, but it's a drug with real side effects and a significant interaction risk with blood thinners. If you're on any anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication, check with your pharmacist before starting.
