HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Pregnenolone 10 mg by Wonder Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: pregnenolone 10 mg per capsule. Pregnenolone is a naturally occurring steroid hormone precursor — your body can convert it into other hormones like DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (cellulose, gelatin, magnesium stearate, and silica) that serve as fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we have doesn't establish that pregnenolone works for the conditions it's often used for. Our data rates it as having insufficient reliable evidence for alcohol use disorder, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, back pain, and bipolar disorder.
If you're thinking about using it for one of these or another reason, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about what the current research actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pregnenolone is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, but it's a hormone with limited human safety data, so use it only under guidance from a healthcare professional. The most commonly reported side effects include acne, agitation, diarrhea, drowsiness, excitement, hair loss, sweating, and tremor.
A few people have reported skin rashes that may have been triggered by sun exposure; these cleared on their own. Because it's a hormone and safety in pregnancy isn't known, avoid it while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking pregnenolone, double-check it with any estrogens, progestins, progesterone, or testosterone products — it may strengthen their effects. Also flag it if you're on benzodiazepines (anti-anxiety or sleep medications), as pregnenolone might make them less effective over time.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pregnenolone is a hormone supplement best suited for people working under a doctor's or pharmacist's supervision who've weighed its risks and benefits. If you take any hormonal medications (birth control, hormone therapy, testosterone), benzodiazepines, or have concerns about acne or mood changes, definitely talk to us before starting.

Pregnenolone 10 mg by Wonder Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pregnenolone 10 mg by Wonder Laboratories has documented moderate interactions with several types of hormonal and psychiatric medications.
The most serious concern is with estrogens — pregnenolone is a building block for several steroid hormones, including estrogen, and taking them together might boost estrogen's effects on your body.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
It also interacts moderately with progestins, progesterone, and testosterone, all through the same mechanism: pregnenolone can serve as a precursor to these hormones and may amplify their effects. There's one additional concern with benzodiazepines (anxiety and sleep medications like diazepam) — early research suggests that pregnenolone may actually weaken their sedative effects over time.
Altogether, these interactions span 82 individual medications. Before you start pregnenolone, run your exact prescriptions through the checker on this page, especially if you take any birth control, hormone replacement therapy, testosterone therapy, anti-anxiety medications, or sleeping pills.

Pregnenolone
Benzodiazepines
Concomitant use of pregnenolone may reduce the effects of benzodiazepines.
Very preliminary clinical research shows that chronic use of pregnenolone reduces sedative effects of diazepam when compared with chronic use of placebo. This effect may be related to the activity of pregnenolone at GABAA receptors.
Estrogens
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of estrogens.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including estrogens.
Progesterone
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of progesterone.
In humans, some research shows that oral administration of pregnenolone can increase levels of progesterone. However, other research shows no effect on progesterone levels. It is possible the impact of pregnenolone on progesterone levels may be dose dependent.
Progestin
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of progestin.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including progestin.
Testosterone
Theoretically, taking pregnenolone might enhance the effects of testosterone.
Pregnenolone is a precursor for several steroid hormones, including testosterone. However, preliminary clinical research shows that taking pregnenolone 30-500 mg orally daily for up to 8 weeks does not affect testosterone levels.
