Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Primadophilus Kids contains three active probiotic strains: Lactobacillus acidophilus (La-14), Lactobacillus plantarum (LP-115), and Bifidobacterium bifidum/lactis (Bb-02). These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive health.
The inactive ingredients include xylitol (a sweetener), inulin (a prebiotic fiber), and standard tablet binders like hydroxypropyl cellulose and magnesium stearate, plus natural cherry flavoring.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus has been studied for several digestive and health concerns. The evidence shows it is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, and possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection.
For atopic disease (allergic conditions), the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective. For acute respiratory distress syndrome, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it.
We don't have effectiveness data on file for the other two strains in this blend.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy children and adults. The live organisms it contains do carry a theoretical risk of infection in patients with severely weakened immune systems, though this is uncommon.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, or mild diarrhea can occur when taking it with other probiotics, but these are unusual. During pregnancy, L. acidophilus is rated possibly safe; for breastfeeding, we don't have safety data on file.
Check with your child's doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if your child has immune system concerns.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your child takes antibiotic drugs, separate the timing of the antibiotic and this probiotic by several hours—ask your pharmacist exactly how—so the antibiotic doesn't reduce the probiotic's effectiveness. We don't have interaction data for the other two probiotic strains in this product, so check your child's full medication list with your pharmacist to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Primadophilus Kids is a three-strain probiotic aimed at children's digestive health, with the strongest evidence for IBS and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The main thing to watch for is timing with antibiotics—separate them by a few hours so the antibiotic doesn't kill the beneficial bacteria.
If your child is on other medications or has immune concerns, talk it over with your child's doctor or pharmacist before you start.

Primadophilus Kids Cherry Flavored by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Primadophilus Kids Cherry Flavored by Nature's Way contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, which has a documented Moderate interaction with antibiotic drugs.
The live organisms in L. acidophilus can be killed when antibiotics are taken at the same time, which may reduce how well the probiotic works for you.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
The two other probiotic strains in this product—Lactobacillus plantarum and Bifidobacterium bifidum/lactis—we don't have interaction data for, so we can't assess whether they interact with medications. If your child is on antibiotics, the best approach is to separate the timing: ask your doctor or pharmacist how many hours apart to give the antibiotic and this probiotic so the antibiotic can do its job without killing off the beneficial bacteria you're trying to add.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
