Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections. Both Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are possibly effective for IBS, H. pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Fructooligosaccharides' effectiveness for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, travelers' diarrhea, and high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) hasn't been reliably established in the data we hold.

The live bacterial strains in this product are generally well tolerated by healthy adults and children. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal—bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, and diarrhea—and are usually mild and uncommon.
Fructooligosaccharides can cause gas and bloating at higher doses, though clinical studies suggest doses under 10 grams daily don't consistently produce these effects. There's limited safety data for supplement-level doses of fructooligosaccharides, so check with your doctor before use.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium lactis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. lactis.
Since B. lactis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. lactis preparations by at least 2 hours.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
