Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 21 ingredients, of which the active ones are live probiotic organisms and inulin, a prebiotic fiber. The probiotics are a mix of Lactobacillus species (plantarum, paracasei, bulgaricus, casei, helveticus, salivarius), Bifidobacterium species (breve, longum, bifidum), Saccharomyces boulardii (a beneficial yeast), Streptococcus thermophilus, and Leuconostoc mesenteroides, along with kefir and yogurt starter cultures.
Inulin is a soluble fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria in your gut. The remaining ingredients are inactive — cellulose, potato starch, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), magnesium stearate, hypromellose, and purified water in the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for these probiotics and inulin is mixed. Saccharomyces boulardii is possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, travelers' diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and clostridioides difficile infection.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. Inulin is possibly effective for obesity, constipation, and diabetes.
For most of the other bacterial strains in this blend, the data we hold shows insufficient evidence to rate them — meaning either they haven't been well studied for specific conditions or the research is too limited to draw firm conclusions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but there are important cautions. All of the live organisms in this product carry a rare but serious risk of infection (bacteremia or sepsis) in people who are critically ill, immunocompromised, have central venous catheters, or are in intensive care.
Inulin commonly causes bloating, flatulence, gas, and digestive cramping, especially at higher doses — most people notice this at 30 grams or more. Saccharomyces boulardii rarely causes abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite.
One case of vomiting and fever has been reported with Bifidobacterium bifidum, though it's unclear if the probiotic was the cause. Very rarely, inulin has triggered anaphylaxis in people with sensitivity to it.
Pregnancy and lactation data are limited; inulin is rated likely safe, Bifidobacterium longum is possibly safe, but the other strains don't have enough reliable safety data — speak with your doctor or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Check your exact medications before starting this product if you take antibiotics (Moderate concern — space doses apart), diabetes medication (Minor concern with inulin), or antifungals or antifungal creams (Minor concern with Saccharomyces boulardii). Use the medication checker below to see if any of your prescriptions are listed.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic with prebiotic fiber, possibly useful for digestive health and certain conditions like IBS or travelers' diarrhea. If you take antibiotics, be sure to space them several hours apart from this supplement so the live cultures aren't killed.
If you have diabetes or take diabetes medication, discuss this with your pharmacist because inulin may affect blood sugar. Skip this product entirely if you're critically ill, severely immunocompromised, or have central lines — talk to your doctor first.

Probiotic & Prebiotic 30 Billion by Bluebonnet Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Bluebonnet's Probiotic & Prebiotic 30 Billion contains several live organisms that interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs — four of the bacterial strains (Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus helveticus) may lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, since the antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the supplement. These are rated Moderate severity interactions, and you should space out doses of this product and any antibiotic by a few hours.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Saccharomyces boulardii, a yeast in this formula, has a Minor interaction with antifungal drugs — antifungals may reduce how well the yeast works. Inulin, the prebiotic ingredient, carries a Minor interaction with diabetes medications; theoretically it could increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), though the effect isn't fully clear from research.
Several ingredients in this product we could not check for interactions: Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus casei HA-108, Lactobacillus plantarum HA-119, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lactococcus lactis biovar diacetylactis, Lactobacillus rhamnosus HA-500, Lactobacillus salivarius HA-118, Lactobacillus bulgaricus HA-137, Lactococcus lactis cremoris, and Zygosaccharomyces florentinus.
Altogether, these interactions span 307 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see whether your specific prescriptions are affected.

For each ingredient in Probiotic & Prebiotic 30 Billion with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Probiotic Blend
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Kefir Starter Culture R0215
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, kefir might increase the risk of bacterial and yeast infections in patients taking immunosuppressants.
Kefir contains actively growing bacteria and yeast.
Disulfiram (Antabuse)
Theoretically, taking kefir with disulfiram might cause a disulfiram reaction.
Kefir may contain alcohol.
Inulin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia with antidiabetes drugs.
Some clinical research shows that inulin improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes; however, it is unclear if it has hypoglycemic effects.
