Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry leaf glycerite liquid extract, a concentrated form of red raspberry leaf in a base of glycerin and vanilla flavor. Red raspberry leaf is the leaves of the raspberry plant, used traditionally in herbal practice.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that red raspberry leaf works for aging skin, cardiovascular disease, respiratory tract infections, congestive heart failure, or diabetes. The data we have shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for any of these uses.
If you're considering it for one of these purposes, that's worth discussing with your doctor.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though safety data overall is limited. The most common side effects from the leaf itself are mild—gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and upper stomach pain—but these don't typically show up at normal doses.
One rare case of occupational asthma from inhaling raspberry powder was reported, though that's not a concern with this oral liquid. During pregnancy, red raspberry leaf has been used late in pregnancy by many people, but safety is not well established, so use only under your doctor's guidance.
Safety while breastfeeding isn't well documented—there isn't enough data to know either way, so talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel)—red raspberry leaf may increase bleeding risk. Also check if you're on insulin or other diabetes medications, as the leaf may lower blood sugar and change how much medication you need.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Red raspberry leaf extract is generally well tolerated, but it can interact with blood thinners and insulin. If you take either of those drug types, or any anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the same applies—get personalized guidance before using it.

Raspberry Leaf Vanilla Flavor by TerraVita Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
TerraVita's Raspberry Leaf Vanilla Flavor can interact with medications through its red raspberry leaf extract.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like aspirin or clopidogrel)—red raspberry leaf may increase bleeding risk, though this hasn't been documented in actual patients yet. Lab studies show the extract can enhance the effect of these drugs, so if you take any blood thinner or antiplatelet medication, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Red raspberry leaf may also lower blood sugar. If you take insulin, there's a documented case of someone developing low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) after drinking raspberry leaf tea daily.
That doesn't mean it'll happen to you, but your glucose control could shift, so your insulin dose might need adjusting—another conversation to have with your doctor or pharmacist.
Altogether, these interactions span 135 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your exact drugs before you start.

Red Raspberry Leaf Glycerite Liquid Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Insulin
Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
