Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry leaf powder. Red raspberry leaf is the dried leaves of the raspberry plant, traditionally used to support various aspects of health, though the evidence for most of those uses isn't yet established in our data.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The effectiveness of red raspberry leaf for aging skin, heart health, respiratory infections, heart failure, and diabetes is rated as insufficient evidence to establish. That means research so far hasn't shown convincing proof that it works for these purposes, but it also doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that we need more solid data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though safety evidence is limited. The most common side effects reported with oral use are diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, and stomach pain, though these don't typically happen at standard doses.
One case of occupational asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) was reported from inhaling raspberry powder dust, but that's an uncommon exposure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are mixed.
Safety during late pregnancy is not well established—talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable information to know whether it's safe, so discuss this with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet medications—red raspberry leaf may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Also confirm your blood sugar plan if you take insulin, since red raspberry leaf might lower glucose levels and cause low blood sugar.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Red raspberry leaf powder may interest you if you're exploring herbal options, but the evidence for most health uses isn't established yet. If you take blood thinners or insulin, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product—the interactions are real enough to warrant a conversation.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding also warrant a talk with your provider first.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
TerraVita Premium Collection Red Raspberry Leaf Powder, which contains red raspberry leaf extract, interacts with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs and insulin.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet medications: in lab studies, red raspberry leaf showed activity that could theoretically boost the effect of these drugs and raise bleeding risk, though this hasn't been documented in actual patients yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Red raspberry leaf also carries a Moderate interaction with insulin. In one case, a patient with gestational diabetes developed low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) after drinking two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days while on insulin therapy—suggesting the leaf may lower glucose levels in people being treated for diabetes.
Altogether, these interactions span 135 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page, especially if you take any blood thinner or insulin.

Red Raspberry, Powder
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Insulin
Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
