What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic Reishi Mushroom, a fungus traditionally used in herbal medicine. The capsule itself is made from vegetarian material.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for reishi mushroom's effectiveness is limited. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), it appears possibly ineffective based on the data we hold.
For altitude sickness, Alzheimer disease, and athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence to know whether it works or not.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are mild—dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.
Some people have reported sore throat and runny nose, and respiratory allergy to reishi spores can occur. Rare side effects include insomnia and headache.
There isn't enough safety data to recommend reishi mushroom during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you in those situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs)—reishi mushroom at higher doses may increase bleeding risk. Also flag blood pressure medications and diabetes drugs, since reishi mushroom may lower blood pressure and blood sugar.
Altogether, these interactions span 375 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Reishi mushroom may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional herbal support and don't take blood pressure medications, blood thinners, or diabetes drugs. If you're on any of those medications, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
The evidence for what it actually does is pretty thin, so keep expectations realistic.

Red Reishi Mushroom by Fresh Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Fresh Nutrition's Red Reishi Mushroom contains organic Reishi Mushroom, which interacts with blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, and diabetes medications through its documented effects on blood pressure, bleeding risk, and blood sugar.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs). At higher doses—3 grams daily—reishi mushroom may increase bleeding risk, though 1.5 grams daily does not seem to have this effect.
This is a Moderate-severity interaction. If you take a blood thinner, you'll want to check your exact dose and medication before starting this product.
Reishi mushroom may also lower blood pressure on its own, so combining it with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) could theoretically increase the risk of blood pressure dropping too low—also Moderate severity. Additionally, animal research suggests reishi mushroom lowers blood sugar, and while its effects in people with type 2 diabetes are mixed and unpredictable, combining it with diabetes medications theoretically carries Moderate risk.
Use the medication checker below to look up your exact drugs before you start.

organic Reishi Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
