Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: Reishi Mushroom Fruit Extract. The supplement also includes two inactive ingredients—hypromellose (a capsule binder) and rice flour—to deliver the extract in capsule form.

Does it work?

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Reishi Mushroom's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support immune system health and fatigue tolerance.
  • We looked for evidence on: Cancer-related fatigue, Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Influenza, Stress, Insomnia, Psychological well-being — and 3 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Reishi Mushroom is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Reishi Mushroom is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Cancer-related fatigue, Influenza, Insomnia, Stress, and more.

The data we hold shows reishi mushroom is possibly ineffective for lowering cholesterol (hyperlipidemia). For altitude sickness, Alzheimer disease, and athletic performance, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works or not.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety hasn't been thoroughly studied. The most common side effects are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset.

Some people report sore throat, runny nose, or (rarely) insomnia and headache. Respiratory allergy to reishi spores is possible for sensitive individuals.

Not enough safety data exists for pregnancy or breastfeeding—the safety data advises against use in both situations. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether reishi is appropriate for you if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Reishi Mushroom.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 375 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this if you take antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents (blood thinners), or antidiabetes drugs (diabetes medications). All three categories carry Moderate interaction risk.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Reishi mushroom extract may interest you if you're exploring natural options for general wellness, but it's not established as effective for the conditions listed. The key caution: if you take blood pressure meds, blood thinners, or diabetes drugs, you'll need to clear this with your doctor or pharmacist first because the interactions are real.

Reishi Mushroom Extract by Double Wood Supplements: Common Questions

Does Reishi Mushroom Extract by Double Wood Supplements interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Reishi Mushroom Extract has a known interaction with 375 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Reishi Mushroom Extract contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What are the side effects I might experience?
Most common are dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, and stomach upset. Some people report sore throat or runny nose. Rarely, insomnia and headache occur. If you're allergic to mushroom spores, you could have a respiratory reaction.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Not enough safety data exists for either situation, so the data advises against it. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance on whether reishi is right for you.
Does reishi actually work for lowering cholesterol?
The evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective for that—the data doesn't support it as a cholesterol-lowering tool.
How long has reishi been studied for safety?
It's generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied, so we don't have solid data on what happens with extended use.
Why is there such a large medication count listed for interactions?
The 375 count reflects all the individual medications across the three drug categories that interact with reishi (blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, and diabetes medications)—not that reishi interacts with 375 separate drugs in different ways.
