HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Sang Bai Pi by Herbal Terra
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: a certified organic liquid extract of Sang Bai Pi, the dried root bark of white mulberry (Morus alba). The formulation also includes menstruum, an inactive ingredient that helps deliver the extract.
White mulberry has been used traditionally in herbal medicine, and the root bark is the part concentrated in this supplement.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence supporting white mulberry root bark for any condition is not established. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for androgenic alopecia (hair loss), osteoporosis, common cold, diabetes, or high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia).
While clinical research does confirm that white mulberry can lower blood glucose levels, we don't have enough data to say whether this product is effective for managing diabetes as a treatment.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Orally, white mulberry leaf appears to be generally well tolerated, though some trial participants experienced gastrointestinal effects. In one clinical study, bloating and flatulence occurred in about half the participants taking 4.6 grams three times daily for 4 weeks, loose stools in about a quarter, and constipation in about a fifth — but these effects often decreased as the study continued, suggesting they may be temporary for some people.
There isn't enough safety data to recommend medicinal amounts of white mulberry during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Sang Bai Pi, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take antidiabetes drugs or metformin. White mulberry can lower blood sugar and may slow how your kidneys clear metformin and similar medications, raising their levels in your body.
If you use diabetes medication, close blood-sugar monitoring will be important.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sang Bai Pi may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional herbal support, but evidence for specific health benefits hasn't been established. If you take diabetes medication or any drug that's an OCT2 substrate (especially metformin), you'll need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it, since white mulberry can affect blood sugar and how your body clears certain medications.
Discuss this supplement with your own healthcare provider, especially if you're on prescription medications or pregnant.

Sang Bai Pi by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sang Bai Pi by Herbal Terra contains white mulberry root bark, which has documented interactions with two categories of medications.
The most serious concern is with antidiabetes drugs — white mulberry can lower blood sugar (glucose) levels, which may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with diabetes medications. Clinical research confirms this blood-sugar-lowering effect, so if you take diabetes medication, you'll need to monitor your glucose levels closely.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
White mulberry may also interact with a group of medications called OCT2 substrates (organic cation transporter 2 substrates), which include metformin. Animal research shows white mulberry extract can slow how your kidneys clear these drugs, potentially raising their levels and side effects in your body.
Altogether, these interactions span 87 individual medications. Before starting this product, check your exact prescriptions against the search tool on this page, especially if you take any diabetes or blood-sugar-managing medications.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.
