What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Sang Ye against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
Sang Ye by Herbal Terra is a single-ingredient liquid extract: certified organic white mulberry (Sang Ye) leaf in concentrated form. The extract is made using a menstruum — a liquid base used in herbal preparation — to deliver the active compounds from the dried leaf.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for white mulberry leaf isn't established yet in the data we hold. The product has been studied for hair loss (androgenic alopecia), bone health (osteoporosis), colds, blood sugar control (diabetes), and cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia), but all those uses are rated as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research so far hasn't been conclusive enough to make a confident claim.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
White mulberry leaf is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. In a clinical trial, people taking the powder experienced bloating and flatulence (in about half), loose stools (in a quarter), and constipation (in about a fifth), but these effects tended to ease up over the course of the study — suggesting they may be temporary for some people.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data on medicinal amounts of white mulberry leaf, so it's wise to avoid it in concentrated supplement form at those times. As a food, it's considered likely safe, but talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what's right for your situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Sang Ye, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on antidiabetes drugs — white mulberry leaf can lower blood sugar and may increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with these medications. Also flag any drugs that use a kidney transport system called OCT2 (metformin is a common one), since the extract may slow their elimination.
Monitor your blood glucose closely if you're on diabetes medication.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sang Ye may appeal to you if you're interested in herbal support, but the evidence for specific health claims isn't established yet. The bigger practical concern is if you take diabetes medications or metformin — this product can affect blood sugar and how your body clears certain drugs.
Before you start, check your medications with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure Sang Ye is appropriate for you.

Sang Ye by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's Sang Ye, which contains white mulberry leaf extract, does interact with medications — specifically through its effects on blood sugar and how your kidneys clear certain drugs.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The main concern is with diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs). White mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels on its own, so taking it alongside diabetes drugs may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
If you're on a diabetes medication, you'll want to monitor your blood sugar closely.
The other category to watch is drugs that use a kidney transport system called OCT2 — metformin is the classic example. Animal research suggests white mulberry leaf may slow how your kidneys eliminate these drugs, potentially raising their levels in your body and increasing side effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 87 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below to look up any prescriptions you're taking before you start Sang Ye. If you take diabetes drugs or metformin, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.
