What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: mulberry leaf extract in dry form. You'll also find alcohol, water, and glycerin as inactive ingredients that help deliver and preserve the extract in liquid form.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that white mulberry leaf works reliably for any condition — we rate it as having insufficient reliable evidence for androgenic alopecia (hair loss), osteoporosis, common cold, diabetes, and high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia). That doesn't mean it's ineffective; it means the studies aren't there yet to support a firm claim.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
White mulberry leaf is generally well tolerated as a food, but concentrated supplements are less studied. The main side effects are digestive: bloating, flatulence, loose stools, and constipation — one clinical trial showed these in 21–50% of participants taking 4.6 grams three times daily for 4 weeks, though they often improved over time.
Because this product can lower blood sugar, use caution if you have diabetes or take blood sugar medication. There isn't enough safety data to use medicinal amounts during pregnancy or breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications if you take antidiabetes drugs (insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or others) or any other drugs that are OCT2 substrates. Mulberry leaf can lower blood sugar and may slow how your kidneys clear certain medications, raising their levels in your body.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is best suited for people without diabetes who aren't on blood sugar medications or kidney transporter substrates. If you take any prescription medications — especially diabetes drugs — check them against the interaction tool below before starting.
Expect mild, possibly transient digestive effects. Talk to your pharmacist about whether it's right for you.

Sang Ye Mulberry by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sang Ye Mulberry by Herbal Terra contains white mulberry leaf extract, which interacts with blood sugar medications.
The biggest concern is antidiabetes drugs — mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose on its own, so combining it with diabetes medications (like metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin) raises your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). You'll need to watch your glucose levels closely if you take any of these.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The product also affects a group of kidney transporter proteins called OCT2 substrates. Metformin is one — animal research shows mulberry leaf may slow how your kidneys clear it, which could increase side effects.
Other OCT2 substrates may behave the same way, though human data is limited.
Altogether, these interactions span 86 individual medications. If you take any blood sugar medication or other prescription drugs, use the checker below with your exact medication names before you start this product.

Mulberry Leaf Extract, Dry
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.
