What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: skullcap powder. Skullcap is a plant traditionally used to support relaxation and calm, though the scientific evidence for its effectiveness is limited.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this powder.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold rates skullcap's effectiveness as insufficient for all the conditions listed on this product—epilepsy, stress, stroke, spasticity, contact dermatitis, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). That means the data aren't strong enough yet to say whether it works for any of these uses.
If you're thinking about this product for a specific reason, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to weigh what we know so far.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Skullcap is generally well tolerated when used short-term, but product quality varies and long-term safety data are limited, so use it with care. The most common side effects reported are sedation, cognitive impairment (trouble thinking clearly), and mild digestive disturbances—mild digestive issues showed up in around 9% of people taking higher doses over two weeks.
One person also reported vivid dreams, though it's unclear if skullcap caused it. At lower single doses (100 mg), CNS side effects weren't seen in the data we hold; at 200 mg and higher, sedation and cognitive problems became more likely.
During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety data, so the evidence advises against it. While breastfeeding, safety is unknown, so it's best avoided.
There's no data on file for how skullcap affects nursing, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on any CNS depressants—sedatives, sleep aids, tranquilizers, or certain pain and anxiety medications. Skullcap can add to their effects and increase drowsiness and confusion.
That's a Moderate interaction, and your healthcare provider can help you decide if it's safe to use together or if the timing needs adjusting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Skullcap Powder is an herbal option if you're interested in relaxation support, but the evidence for its effectiveness is too thin to confirm it works for the conditions listed. It does carry a Moderate interaction risk with CNS depressants, so if you take any sedatives, sleep aids, or certain pain relievers, check your exact medications with your pharmacist before starting.
It's not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see if it fits your needs.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Scullcap Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection has documented interactions through its skullcap content.
The most serious concern is with CNS depressants (drugs that slow your brain and nervous system)—like sedatives, sleep aids, and some pain relievers—where skullcap can add to their effect and make you drowsy or impair your thinking more than either drug alone.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 248 individual medications.
Skullcap's sedating properties mean you'll want to be cautious if you're already taking anything that makes you sleepy or affects mental clarity. This is a Moderate interaction, but it's real enough that mixing them needs thought.
Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your prescriptions fall into that category before you start.
