Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Shatter SX-7 contains nine ingredients, including five actives with defined roles. Beta-alanine (CarnoSyn) supports athletic performance and muscle work.
Caffeine Anhydrous boosts mental alertness and athletic performance. Holy Basil extract, Nutmeg extract (Myristica fragrans), and Grains of Paradise extract are traditional botanical ingredients added for their purported ergogenic and wellness properties.
The product also includes three proprietary blends: Ultimate Muscle Building & Pump Complex and Extreme Energy & Focus Complex (whose exact ingredients and amounts we don't disclose on file), plus Brown Algae extract. Sodium is listed as a blend component.
The remaining ingredients are inactive — natural and artificial flavors, citric acid, sweeteners (acesulfame potassium and sucralose), salt, calcium silicate, and the color FD&C Red No. 40.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Beta-alanine (CarnoSyn) is rated Possibly Effective for athletic performance and physical performance — it may help with muscle work and endurance, though evidence isn't conclusive. The evidence for its other listed uses — age-related cognitive decline, COPD, general cognitive function, and menopausal symptoms — is insufficient to establish whether it helps.
Caffeine is rated Likely Effective for mental alertness and athletic performance, meaning good evidence supports its use for focus and sports performance. Holy Basil, Nutmeg, Brown Algae, and the proprietary blends don't have effectiveness ratings in our data — the evidence for them isn't established, or we hold no data.
Grains of Paradise extract has no effectiveness ratings on file either.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-alanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults but commonly causes a harmless tingling sensation (paresthesia), usually starting on the scalp within 20 minutes and lasting about an hour. Avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding — there isn't enough safety information.
Caffeine is generally safe in moderate amounts for healthy adults, though high doses carry serious risk. Limit intake during pregnancy and discuss safe limits with your doctor; small amounts pass into breast milk and moderate intake is usually acceptable but can affect the baby.
Holy Basil is generally well tolerated short-term in adults, with occasional loose stools or nausea reported, but avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to animal safety concerns. Adenosine supplement safety is limited and not well studied; avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Nutmeg is safe as a food spice but becomes toxic at larger doses — avoid medicinal amounts and concentrated supplements. Grains of Paradise is likely safe in food amounts, but supplement safety isn't well studied; avoid medicinal doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
We hold no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data for Brown Algae extract, Ultimate Muscle Building & Pump Complex, or Extreme Energy & Focus Complex.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Shatter SX-7 Watermelon Fusion by MuscleTech contains several ingredients with documented interactions.
The most serious is Adenosine 5'-Triphosphate Disodium, which has a Major interaction with Dipyridamole (Persantine), a heart medication — Dipyridamole can increase both the therapeutic and toxic effects of adenosine, potentially causing dizziness, a slow heartbeat, and fainting. Discontinue Dipyridamole several days before any adenosine-based cardiac stress test.

Caffeine Anhydrous also carries Major concern with Ephedrine, a stimulant that can increase the risk of serious, life-threatening effects like high blood pressure and heart attack when combined with caffeine. Caffeine has Moderate interactions with pentobarbital and phenobarbital (sedatives and seizure medications), clozapine (an antipsychotic), quinolone antibiotics, cimetidine (a stomach acid reducer), and dipyridamole — each affecting drug levels or effectiveness in different ways.
Holy Basil extract interacts moderately with blood thinners, diabetes medications, and pentobarbital. Nutmeg extract (Myristica fragrans) carries Moderate interactions with sedatives, several categories of psychiatric and neurological medications, and certain enzyme substrates.
Adenosine also has Moderate interactions with carbamazepine (Tegretol, an anti-seizure drug) and a Minor interaction with methylxanthines like caffeine and theophylline.
Beta-alanine (CarnoSyn) and Grains of Paradise extract have no known interactions documented in our data. We could not check Brown Algae extract, Ultimate Muscle Building & Pump Complex, or Extreme Energy & Focus Complex — no interaction data is on file for these ingredients.
Altogether, these interactions span 952 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your exact prescriptions before starting this product.

For each ingredient in #Shatter SX-7 Watermelon Fusion with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
