This combination product, sometimes sold as Amesec, contains ephedrine (a stimulant) along with aminophylline and a sedative. Here's the thing to watch: caffeine and ephedrine are both stimulants, so taking them together stacks their effects. Caffeine doesn't break this drug down or build it up. Instead, the two simply pile on top of each other, pushing your heart and nervous system harder.

In real life, that can mean a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and higher blood pressure. The combo has been linked, in rare cases, to more serious problems like dangerous blood pressure spikes, irregular heart rhythms, or seizures. The evidence here is mostly anecdotal, but because the risk can be serious, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, and watch your overall caffeine intake.

Here's the thing about Amesec: it already packs two stimulants. Aminophylline (a relative of theophylline, the caffeine family) and ephedrine both rev up your system. When you add caffeine on top, you're basically stacking stimulants, and the effects can pile up. Folks may notice a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, shakiness, trouble sleeping, headache, or feeling wired and anxious.

This is more of a theoretical, expert-opinion caution than a proven danger, so don't panic. But aminophylline is a drug where blood levels matter, so combining it with lots of coffee or energy drinks can tip you toward those side effects.
