Here's the simple version: both caffeine and amphetamine sulfate (Evekeo, Benzedrine) rev up your central nervous system. They don't really change how each other is broken down, but their stimulant effects stack on top of one another. So combining your morning coffee or energy drinks with this medication can add up to too much stimulation.

What that looks like in real life: a faster or pounding heartbeat, feeling jittery or anxious, higher blood pressure, and trouble falling asleep. Think of it as pressing the gas pedal twice. This is based mostly on expert opinion rather than hard studies, so it's not a guaranteed problem, but it makes sense pharmacologically. A small amount of caffeine may be fine for you, while a lot can tip you over. Check with your pharmacist or doctor about how much caffeine fits with your dose.
