What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Shilajit Extract against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Himalayan Shilajit Extract, a mineral-rich resinous substance from the Himalayas. The capsule also contains cellulose as an inactive filler.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for shilajit isn't established in the data we hold. It's been studied for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteopenia (low bone density), but in each case there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though rare headaches have been reported in clinical research. A single case of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) has been documented, along with one case of a rash (hives) that worsened with physical activity.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy — not enough information is available and there's a contamination risk. Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so it should be avoided.
One critical note: only use purified, tested brands, because unpurified products may contain heavy metals or other contaminants.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
