What’s inside
Full disclosure
Superior Cissus contains one active ingredient: Cissus quadrangularis (a plant extract also called QuadraFlex). The product also includes gelatin, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and rice flour as inactive ingredients to hold the capsule together and improve how it's manufactured.
Does it work?
Not established
Cissus quadrangularis is possibly effective for obesity — small studies hint it may help with weight management. For high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), bone density loss (osteopenia), cancer, and epilepsy, the evidence we have isn't strong enough to say whether it works or not.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cissus quadrangularis is generally well tolerated in short-term use, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most commonly reported side effects in trials — headache, insomnia, flatulence, diarrhea, stomach irritation, and dry mouth — occurred at rates similar to or lower than placebo.
There isn't enough safety data to recommend this supplement during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any antidiabetes medication — insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or any other glucose-lowering drug — double-check it with our medication tool before you start this supplement. The risk of low blood sugar (Moderate severity) needs careful monitoring.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're interested in this supplement for weight management and don't take antidiabetes medication, it's worth a conversation with your pharmacist. If you take any diabetes drugs, check them against our medication tool first — the risk of low blood sugar is real.
Long-term safety data is limited, so this isn't something to take indefinitely without professional guidance.
