Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
SX-Fraction contains two active ingredients: maitake fruiting body powder and a maitake mushroom standardized extract (PSX-Fraction). Both are forms of the same mushroom species, delivering polysaccharides thought to be the active compounds.
The tablet also includes inactive ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, calcium stearate, silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, and methylcellulose) that help bind and deliver the active material.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for maitake mushroom's effectiveness for most uses is insufficient—our data doesn't establish benefit for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), chemotherapy-induced anemia, laryngeal cancer, chemotherapy-induced diarrhea, or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). What we do know from clinical research is that maitake can lower blood glucose in type 2 diabetes and lower blood pressure in animals, but these aren't marketed uses here and are relevant mainly because of interaction risk.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Maitake is generally well tolerated when eaten as food, but concentrated supplement safety hasn't been fully studied. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: in clinical trials, small numbers of people reported diarrhea, stomach pain (epigastric pain), and nausea; one person withdrew due to diarrhea, and one experienced a rash and itching (pruritus) that resolved on its own.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, concentrated maitake supplements should be avoided—there isn't enough safety data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing and considering this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking SX-Fraction, double-check it with your doctor or pharmacist if you take warfarin or other blood thinners (anticoagulants), any blood pressure medication (antihypertensive), or any diabetes drug. These carry Moderate-severity interaction risks with maitake mushroom.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
SX-Fraction may be worth considering if you're interested in maitake mushroom and have no blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, or diabetes medications in your routine. If you do take any of those, or any other prescription medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—the interaction risk is real and documented.
Side effects are mild and mostly digestive, but weren't observed in everyone.

SX-Fraction by Mushroom Wisdom Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SX-Fraction by Mushroom Wisdom contains maitake mushroom in two forms, and both carry documented interactions with blood pressure drugs, diabetes medications, and warfarin.
The most serious concern is with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner: limited evidence suggests maitake may strengthen warfarin's effect, and one case report documented a patient's blood clotting measure (INR) climb to a risky level after taking a maitake product for just one week.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), maitake may add to their effect and lower your blood pressure further than intended. Similarly, if you take diabetes drugs, maitake's ability to lower blood sugar (documented in clinical trials) could tip the balance toward low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Altogether, these interactions span 260 individual medications. Before starting SX-Fraction, check your exact prescriptions—especially blood thinners, blood pressure pills, and diabetes medications—with your doctor or pharmacist.

Maitake fruiting body powder
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
