Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • “Tremella Mushroom Extract” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (1,000 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

This powder contains one active ingredient: Tremella Mushroom Extract, which includes Beta-(1,3)(1,6)-Glucans — compounds found naturally in mushroom cell walls. The product has no inactive ingredients listed.

Beta-glucans are the components in tremella that researchers have studied for effects on cholesterol, heart health, and immune function.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Beta-glucans's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Rejuvenation and immune support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Aging, Exercise-induced respiratory infections, Lower respiratory tract infections, Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), Wound healing, Skin health — and 1 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Beta-glucans is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Beta-glucans is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Exercise-induced respiratory infections, Lower respiratory tract infections, Wound healing, Aging.

The evidence supports beta-glucans for two main purposes: they're likely effective for high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and for supporting heart health in coronary heart disease (CHD). That's the research we have on file — if you're considering this product for other reasons, ask us whether there's evidence for that specific use.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Beta-glucans from food sources are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated supplement doses lack the safety data that food amounts have, so caution is warranted.

In one trial, a very high dose given to children with neuroblastoma caused temporary liver enzyme elevation in one patient out of 44. On the skin, a beta-glucans cream triggered mild, self-limiting reactions in about 12% of users and contact dermatitis in some cases — though that's topical use, not oral powder.

Little research exists on supplement doses during breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're nursing.
