Here's the idea worth knowing: Alefacept (Amevive) is a medicine that purposely calms down part of your immune system, which is how it helps with severe plaque psoriasis. Some beta-glucans, especially the yeast and mushroom types, may do the opposite and nudge the immune system to be more active. On paper, that could work against what Alefacept is trying to do and might make your psoriasis harder to control.

I want to be straight with you, though: this concern comes from lab and early research, not from real-world studies in people taking Alefacept, so it's mostly theoretical. The oat and barley beta-glucans used for cholesterol are less of a worry here. Before adding any beta-glucan supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
