Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains 2 active ingredients: vanadium and chloride. Vanadium is a trace mineral that plays a role in bone and carbohydrate metabolism.

The product also lists inactive ingredients including purified water and vanadium chloride.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Vanadium's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: blood sugar oxidation and glucose tolerance.
  • We looked for evidence on: Diabetes, Impaired glucose tolerance (prediabetes), Insulin sensitivity, Glycemic control.
  • The closest evidence on file: Vanadium is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Diabetes (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Vanadium is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Impaired glucose tolerance (prediabetes).

Vanadium has likely effective evidence for treating vanadium deficiency. For athletic performance, cancer, diabetes, and high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate whether it works.

If you're considering this for one of those other uses, you'd want to talk with your pharmacist or doctor about what the research actually shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Vanadium is generally well tolerated at small dietary amounts, but supplement doses can cause side effects and may be toxic at higher levels. At doses above the recommended upper limit of 1.8 mg daily, you may experience stomach upset, diarrhea, gas, and nausea.

Long-term use at high doses has rarely been linked to kidney damage. Allergic reactions to vanadium are uncommon but have occurred in people exposed to vanadium metal.

Do not use this product during pregnancy—there isn't enough safety information. Avoid it while breastfeeding as well, since safety is unknown.

If you're pregnant or nursing and considering any supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Vanadium.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 208 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your pharmacist before using this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (Moderate severity risk of bleeding) or diabetes medications (Moderate severity risk of low blood sugar). We couldn't check the chloride component in this product, so mention all ingredients when you ask.

Vanadium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals: Common Questions

Does Vanadium Concentrate by Complete H2O Minerals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Vanadium Concentrate has a known interaction with 208 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Vanadium Concentrate contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What is vanadium and why is it in this product?
Vanadium is a trace mineral involved in bone and carbohydrate metabolism. This product is meant to supply vanadium, particularly for people who may have a deficiency.
Is vanadium safe to take every day?
Vanadium is well tolerated at small amounts, but the upper recommended limit is 1.8 mg daily. Above that, you risk stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, and gas. Long-term high doses have rarely caused kidney damage, so stick to the dose on the label and don't exceed it.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No—there isn't enough safety information for pregnancy, so supplements should be avoided. Breastfeeding safety is also unknown. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any supplement if you're pregnant or nursing.
Does vanadium actually help with diabetes?
A few very small studies suggest vanadium may improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar in type 2 diabetes, but the evidence we have is insufficient to rate it as effective for that use. If you're considering it for diabetes, ask your pharmacist what the research really supports.
What side effects might I notice?
Most side effects are gastrointestinal—abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, gas, and nausea—and only happen at doses above the upper limit. Allergic reactions to vanadium are rare but have occurred. Stop and contact your pharmacist if you develop an itchy rash or other allergic symptoms.
