Vitalica Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by CS Health
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Vitalica against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Vitalica by CS Health
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Vitalica contains 2 active ingredients: sulforaphane glucosinolate (a compound from broccoli) and broccoli seed raffinate (a broccoli extract). Both are plant-derived compounds thought to support cellular health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — a vegetable capsule shell, calcium ascorbate, and microcrystalline cellulose — which serve as binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Sulforaphane is possibly effective for prostate cancer based on the evidence we hold, though it's rated possibly ineffective for H. pylori infection. For other uses — hay fever, asthma, and general cancer support — the evidence isn't established enough to rate.
Broccoli is possibly effective for colorectal cancer; for bladder cancer, breast cancer, fibromyalgia, and stomach cancer, evidence is insufficient to make a claim. Neither ingredient has strong evidence across a wide range of conditions, so talk with your doctor about whether this product fits your health goals.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sulforaphane from food is generally well tolerated, though concentrated supplements haven't been studied as thoroughly for long-term use. Common side effects in trials included bowel discomfort, heartburn, stomach upset, vomiting, headache, insomnia, and irritability.
A small number of trial participants — all with autism or a history of seizure — experienced seizures after taking sulforaphane; if you have a seizure disorder, check with your doctor before using this product. One study noted increased weight gain in adolescent and young adult males.
Broccoli as food is safe, but concentrated seed extracts can cause loose stools, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, especially at high doses. The safety data advises against concentrated sulforaphane supplements in pregnancy; for breastfeeding, there isn't enough information about supplement-level doses, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Vitalica, check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take any medications metabolized by CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2E1, or CYP2A6 enzymes — a list that spans hundreds of common drugs. Sulforaphane may increase or decrease drug levels depending on the enzyme, and broccoli may speed up metabolism of certain medications.
Severity is Moderate across all these enzyme interactions, meaning the effect on your drug could be clinically meaningful. Use the medication checker on this page, or ask your pharmacist to review your specific prescriptions before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Vitalica may be worth considering if you're interested in plant compounds studied for cancer support and your medications don't interact with the enzyme systems sulforaphane and broccoli affect — but that's a significant 'if'. Anyone taking prescription medications, especially those for the heart, blood pressure, or mood, needs to check with their own pharmacist or doctor before starting, because the interaction potential is real and widespread.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of seizures, talk with your healthcare provider first.

Formula
The seed makes the difference. This product contains BroccoRaphanin, the original sulforaphane glucosinolate (glucoraphanin) derived from CS Health LLC's proprietary broccoli seed variety. Our seed was bred by natural selection (non-GMO) and contains the highest concentration of sulforaphane glucosinolate available. On ingestion, Vitalica converts to sulforaphane in the body, activates Phase II enzymes, protects DNA from free radicals and promotes immune system health.

Vitalica by CS Health Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vitalica by CS Health contains sulforaphane glucosinolate and broccoli seed raffinate, both of which interact with medications by affecting how your liver breaks them down.
The most serious interactions are Moderate in severity and involve three major enzyme systems: CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 substrates. Sulforaphane may either reduce or increase the levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes, depending on the enzyme — the research shows it can slow down CYP1A2 while potentially increasing levels of CYP3A4 and CYP2E1 substrates.
These are theoretical risks based on lab and animal studies, not yet reported in humans, but worth checking before you start.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Broccoli seed raffinate raises similar concerns. Human studies show that eating concentrated amounts of broccoli increases the activity of CYP1A2 and CYP2A6 enzymes, which speeds up how your body clears drugs metabolized by those pathways — potentially making them less effective.
Altogether, these interactions span 724 individual medications.
Because sulforaphane's effects on these enzymes may work in opposite directions (inhibiting some, inducing others), the net effect depends on which specific drug you're taking. If you take any prescription medication — especially heart drugs, blood pressure medications, or antidepressants — run it through the checker below or talk with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this product.

For each ingredient in Vitalica with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sulforaphane Glucosinolate
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP2E1 substrates.
In vitro evidence shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP2E1 enzymes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Broccoli seed raffinate
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2A6.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of broccoli daily for 6 days increases CYP2A6 activity by 135% to 550%. Induction of CYP2A6 activity is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
