VolcaNO Pre-Workout Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Force Factor
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking VolcaNO Pre-Workout against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
VolcaNO Pre-Workout contains 8 active ingredients designed to support muscle pump and athletic performance. The formula includes Vitamin B6 (a B vitamin), Agmatine Sulfate and AgmaPure (both forms of agmatine, a compound derived from an amino acid), L-Glycine, L-Methionine, L-Citrulline, L-Norvaline, and two forms of creatine — CON-CRET Creatine HCl and creatine within a proprietary blend.
These are combined with standard inactive ingredients: gelatin capsules, silica, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, and colorants.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence base for VolcaNO's ingredients varies. Creatine is possibly effective for muscle strength and athletic performance, and possibly effective for sarcopenia (muscle wasting).
L-Citrulline is possibly effective for athletic performance. Vitamin B6 has established effectiveness for treating vitamin B6 deficiency and certain types of anemia, and is possibly effective for pregnancy-related nausea — but the product provides B6 at supplemental doses, not therapeutic ones.
The effectiveness of Agmatine Sulfate, L-Glycine, L-Methionine, and L-Norvaline for athletic performance or pre-workout support has not been established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Vitamin B6 is well tolerated at doses under 100 mg daily, but high doses over time can cause nerve damage (sensory neuropathy). Agmatine appears well tolerated for short-term use, though long-term safety in humans hasn't been well studied.
L-Glycine is generally well tolerated at typical doses, and L-Methionine is safe in food amounts. Creatine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults but may cause water retention, gastrointestinal upset, muscle cramps, and dehydration.
L-Citrulline is generally well tolerated; the most common side effects are gastrointestinal discomfort and heartburn. All ingredients lack sufficient safety data during pregnancy and breastfeeding — check with your doctor before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking VolcaNO, check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take any antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications) — Vitamin B6, Agmatine, and L-Citrulline may lower blood pressure further. Also double-check if you take antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medication), seizure medications like phenobarbital or phenytoin, the antipsychotic clozapine, or phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors for erectile dysfunction.
No interactions are documented for L-Methionine or creatine.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
VolcaNO is a multi-ingredient pre-workout with creatine and amino acids aimed at muscle pump and performance. VolcaNO Pre-Workout by Force Factor Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
VolcaNO Pre-Workout by Force Factor contains several ingredients with documented interactions.
Vitamin B6, one of its active components, has the most serious interactions documented — it can have additive blood-pressure-lowering effects with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), and at high doses may reduce how well seizure medications like phenobarbital and phenytoin work in your body.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Agmatine Sulfate and its proprietary form AgmaPure both carry Moderate-severity interactions with antihypertensive drugs and blood sugar medications. Theoretically, they may increase the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension) or low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with those drug types.
L-Citrulline also interacts with antihypertensive drugs in the same way, and may have additive effects with drugs for erectile dysfunction (phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors like sildenafil). L-Glycine has a documented interaction with clozapine, an antipsychotic used for schizophrenia — adding glycine may worsen schizophrenic symptoms.
L-Methionine and creatine (CON-CRET Creatine HCl) show no interactions in our data. We could not check L-Norvaline because we hold no data for it.
Altogether, these interactions span 300 individual medications.

For each ingredient in VolcaNO Pre-Workout with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Vitamin B6
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, vitamin B6 might increase the photosensitivity caused by amiodarone.
Despite initial case reports suggesting that pyridoxine may have a protective effect against amiodarone-induced photosensitivity, preliminary clinical research suggests that pyridoxine may actually exacerbate this adverse effect.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, vitamin B6 may have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Research in hypertensive rats shows that vitamin B6 can decrease systolic blood pressure. Similarly, clinical research in patients with hypertension shows that taking high doses of vitamin B6 may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, possibly by reducing plasma levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Phenobarbital (Luminal)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenobarbital.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenobarbital, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenobarbital to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenytoin.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenytoin, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenytoin to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Levodopa
Vitamin B6 may increase the metabolism of levodopa when taken alone, but not when taken in conjunction with carbidopa.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) enhances the metabolism of levodopa, reducing its clinical effects. However, this interaction does not occur when carbidopa is used concurrently with levodopa (Sinemet). Therefore, it is not likely to be a problem in most people.
