HelloPharmacist Scorecard of White Mulberry Extract by BulkSupplements.com
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: white mulberry leaf extract. The powder form delivers the extract on its own, with no inactive fillers or other ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for white mulberry leaf extract isn't established in our data for the conditions it's marketed for — androgenic alopecia (hair loss), osteoporosis, common cold, diabetes, and high cholesterol all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. What we do know is that clinical research shows it can lower blood glucose, which is why the diabetes interaction matters; but whether that translates to real benefit for managing diabetes itself hasn't been reliably proven in the studies we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
White mulberry leaf powder is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects in clinical trials were transient bloating, constipation, flatulence, and loose stools — roughly half of trial participants experienced bloating and gas, about a quarter had loose stools, and a fifth had constipation.
These effects often improved over time as patients continued the supplement. Because it can lower blood sugar, caution is advised if you're at risk for low blood glucose.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data; medicinal amounts should be avoided.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take antidiabetes drugs or any medications cleared through your kidneys via OCT2 transporters (a group that includes certain common drugs like metformin). These are Moderate-severity interactions that need individual review.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement makes sense to consider if you're interested in white mulberry leaf and you don't take diabetes medications or OCT2-substrate drugs. If you do take either of those, talk to your pharmacist before adding it — the blood sugar and drug-clearance effects are real.
Expect possible digestive side effects early on, though they often ease up.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
White Mulberry Extract by BulkSupplements.com has documented interactions with two types of medications.
The main concern is antidiabetes drugs — white mulberry leaf can lower blood sugar levels, which means it could increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're already on diabetes medication. You'll want to watch your blood sugar closely if you combine them.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second issue involves a group of drugs called OCT2 substrates, which are eliminated from your body through your kidneys. Animal research shows white mulberry leaf may slow how your kidneys clear these drugs, potentially raising their levels in your system.
This is a Moderate concern. Altogether, these interactions span 86 individual medications.
Before you start this supplement, check your exact medications with the tool on this page — especially if you take diabetes drugs or any kidney-clearing medications.

White Mulberry Leaf Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that white mulberry leaf can lower blood glucose levels. Advise patients to monitor glucose levels closely.
Organic Cation Transporter 2 (Oct2) Substrates
Theoretically, white mulberry leaf might slow the elimination and increase the adverse effects of drugs which are OCT2 substrates.
Animal research shows that coadministration of white mulberry leaf extract with metformin, an OCT2 substrate, slows the renal elimination of metformin via inhibition of OCT2 activity. OCT2 is expressed in the kidneys and is responsible for transporting cationic drugs into tubular epithelial cells in order to be excreted in the urine.
