Women's Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Meijer
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Women's Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Women's Probiotic by Meijer
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 10 active probiotic ingredients — live beneficial bacteria strains, including Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus, plus several other Lactobacillus species and a Bifidobacterium strain. These are meant to support gut health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: cellulose, gelatin, and magnesium stearate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are both rated Possibly Effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also Possibly Effective for H. pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. For many other conditions — hay fever, anxiety, asthma, the common cold — the evidence we hold is not established.
Talk with your doctor about whether this probiotic fits your specific goals.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. That said, if you have a weakened immune system, are very ill, or have had serious infections, check with your doctor before starting.
Bloating and flatulence are the most commonly reported side effects with probiotics in general, though they're not confirmed specifically from Bifidobacterium bifidum alone. One case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking multiple probiotics together, but it's unclear whether the probiotics caused it.
Very rare cases of bacterial infection (sepsis) have been reported with some Lactobacillus strains in critically ill patients, though not specifically Bifidobacterium bifidum.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to check before starting this probiotic. Antibiotics can reduce how well the live bacteria in this product work.
Take your antibiotic and this probiotic several hours apart — your pharmacist can help you figure out a timing that works.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with IBS or certain digestive issues, especially if your doctor recommends it. The main thing to watch is separating it from any antibiotic you're taking — they don't work well together.
If you're immunocompromised or dealing with a serious illness, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Women's Probiotic by Meijer Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Meijer's Women's Probiotic interacts with antibiotic drugs through its Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus bulgaricus content.
All three can theoretically lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, because antibiotics may kill off the live organisms in the probiotic before they can work. The interaction is Moderate in severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Separating when you take your antibiotic and this probiotic is the main strategy — don't take them together. Your doctor or pharmacist can help you space them out properly.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We were not able to check Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus brevis, or Lactobacillus rhamnosus for drug interactions — we hold no data for them. Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
