What happens

Increased risk of CNS depression and an increased risk of QT interval prolongation

Interaction Deep Dive

TraZODone is a CNS depressant known to prolong the QT interval. Coadministration of traZODone with another drug with similar known characteristics may potentiate each other's sedative effects, may increase risk for cardiac arrhythmia, or both. Avoid coadministration of traZODone with any drug known to prolong the QT interval because of increased risk for cardiac arrhythmia12. Counsel the patients that traZODone may enhance the response to CNS depressants 2.
