Nicotine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group 1,4-dmaa interacts with.

1,4-DMAA is thought to have stimulant and vasoconstrictive effects, which have been demonstrated in animal studies. Theoretically, taking 1,4-DMAA with stimulant drugs might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. Some stimulant drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, diethylpropion (Tenuate), methylphenidate, phentermine (Ionamin), pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, others), and many others.

Here's the situation with combining 1,4-DMAA and nicotine. Both of these act as stimulants on your body. Nicotine itself revs up your nervous system, bumping up your heart rate and blood pressure and triggering the release of adrenaline-like chemicals. 1,4-DMAA does much the same thing, and it also tends to tighten up your blood vessels.

When you stack two stimulants together, those effects can add up. In theory, that could mean a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, or palpitations. To be honest, my bigger concern is the 1,4-DMAA itself, since the FDA has flagged it as unsafe and unapproved for supplements. I'd steer clear of it entirely and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with your nicotine product.
