Pseudoephedrine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group 1,4-dmaa interacts with.

1,4-DMAA is thought to have stimulant and vasoconstrictive effects, which have been demonstrated in animal studies. Theoretically, taking 1,4-DMAA with stimulant drugs might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. Some stimulant drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, diethylpropion (Tenuate), methylphenidate, phentermine (Ionamin), pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, others), and many others.

Here's the simple version: both 1,4-DMAA and pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) are stimulants that act like adrenaline in your body. Pseudoephedrine already narrows blood vessels and can nudge up your heart rate and blood pressure. Stacking it with DMAA, which works in a very similar way, means you could be doubling down on those same effects. The realistic worry is a bigger jump in blood pressure, a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, headache, or trouble sleeping.

To be fair, this concern is theoretical and based mostly on how these stimulants behave, not on big human studies. But honestly, my bigger message is about DMAA itself. The FDA has flagged it as unsafe and not a legal supplement ingredient, so I'd steer clear of it entirely. If you're using Sudafed, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Pseudoephedrine temporarily relieves nasal congestion and sinus pressure caused by the common cold, hay fever, or other upper respiratory allergies. Most products also relieve sinus congestion and pressure, and help restore easier breathing through the nose.

Children's Sudafed oral solution additionally promotes nasal and/or sinus drainage. The Nasal Decongestant tablet specifically notes that it temporarily restores freer breathing through the nose.
