Darunavir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist for Darunavir (Prezista). Your body clears this medication using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found to contain a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can slow that same enzyme down by about a third. If that happened, darunavir could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more side effects like nausea, diarrhea, headache, or rash.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, not on real people taking both together. The bigger worry is simply that Acacia rigidula products are unreliable and sometimes spiked with stimulant drugs. I wouldn't combine it without checking first. Please run it by your pharmacist or HIV doctor before trying any product like this.

About Darunavir

What Is Darunavir Used For?

Brand name: Prezista

Darunavir treats HIV-1 infection in adults and in children who are at least 3 years old and weigh at least 10 kg (about 22 lbs). It is not a cure for HIV, but it is used as part of a combination antiretroviral regimen to control the virus.

Darunavir must always be taken together with ritonavir — that pairing is required for darunavir to work properly. Both Prezista (brand name) and generic darunavir tablets are approved for this use. Prezista is also available as an oral suspension, which is particularly useful for younger or smaller patients.
