Why this applies to Fenfluramine

Fenfluramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the concern with pairing this supplement and fenfluramine. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab studies that compound strongly blocks an enzyme (CYP2D6) that helps your body break down fenfluramine. If that enzyme is slowed, fenfluramine could build up to higher levels than intended, which may mean more side effects like drowsiness, loss of appetite, fatigue, or, more seriously, effects on the heart and blood pressure.

I'll be honest, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube research, so we can't say it will definitely happen. But fenfluramine carries real heart and blood pressure risks on its own, and stacking a hidden stimulant on top is exactly the kind of combination I'd steer away from. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using any Acacia rigidula product.

What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Pondimin

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
