Acacia Rigidula + Fruquintinib
Fruquintinib brand name: Fruzaqla.
Acacia Rigidula has a moderate interaction with Fruquintinib. Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Fruquintinib
Fruquintinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing this combo. Some Acacia rigidula products are secretly spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can slow down CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that helps clear fruquintinib from your body. If that enzyme gets blocked, fruquintinib levels could creep up higher than intended.
Fruquintinib already carries real side effects, like high blood pressure, bleeding, mouth sores, diarrhea, fatigue, and hand-foot skin reactions. More drug in your system could make those worse. That said, this is a theoretical, test-tube finding, not something proven in people. Still, since this is a cancer medicine, please don't start any Acacia rigidula product without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fruquintinib page
“Fruquintinib (Fruzaqla) is an oral targeted therapy for advanced colorectal cancer, which means keeping its blood level steady is part of what makes it work, and I would treat this supplement list with genuine care. Of the 168 ingredients on file, the large majority interact through CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears the drug, so the…”

About Acacia Rigidula
What is Acacia Rigidula?
- Weight loss
- Energy and stimulation
- Boosting metabolism
- Appetite control
- Pre-workout/athletic performance
Acacia rigidula is a shrub from Texas and Mexico that is marketed in weight-loss and energy supplements. There is very little reliable human evidence that it works, and some products have been found to contain an unapproved stimulant drug (BMPEA), which raises real safety concerns. Most people should avoid it and talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying any product containing it.
About Fruquintinib
What Is Fruquintinib Used For?
Brand name: Fruzaqla
Fruzaqla (fruquintinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) — colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. It is specifically for patients who have already been treated with several standard chemotherapy regimens and other targeted therapies.
Fruzaqla is intended for patients who have previously received fluoropyrimidine-, oxaliplatin-, and irinotecan-based chemotherapy, an anti-VEGF therapy, and — if their tumor is RAS wild-type and it is medically appropriate — an anti-EGFR therapy.
