Guaifenesin, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the tricky part with this combo. Many Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block the liver enzyme CYP2D6. That enzyme is what turns hydrocodone into its more active painkilling form. So if that pathway is slowed, you'd actually expect a little less pain relief from the hydrocodone, not more. The guaifenesin part (the mucus thinner) isn't really involved here.

I'll be honest, this is theory from test-tube research, not real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. But Acacia rigidula carries its own safety baggage with that hidden stimulant. Before mixing it with a narcotic cough product, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist for your cough product. Some Acacia rigidula supplements have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab testing suggests BMPEA can partly slow down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps break down the hydrocodone part of this medicine. If hydrocodone clears a little slower, it could build up and lean toward stronger opioid effects, things like extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing. The guaifenesin half isn't really the concern here.

I want to keep this in perspective: this is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, so I'd call it more of a caution than a sure thing. Still, mixing a stimulant-containing supplement with an opioid is something I'd run past your pharmacist or doctor first.
