Isavuconazonium Sulfate (IV) falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the short version for Cresemba (isavuconazonium) and Acacia rigidula. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this antifungal. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab (test tube) studies BMPEA slowed that same enzyme by about a third. If that were to happen in a person, your isavuconazole levels could creep up, which might mean more side effects like nausea, headache, low potassium, or liver-related changes.

Keep in mind this is only theoretical and based on lab work, not real patient data, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, this is a serious infection medicine and Acacia products carry their own safety worries. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Isavuconazonium Used For?

Brand name: Cresemba

Cresemba (isavuconazonium sulfate) is used to treat two serious, life-threatening fungal infections: invasive aspergillosis and invasive mucormycosis. These infections can spread through the body and are most dangerous in people with weakened immune systems.

Cresemba for injection is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older. Cresemba capsules are approved for adults and children 6 years of age and older who weigh at least 16 kilograms (about 35 pounds).
