Lapatinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the concern with pairing an Acacia rigidula supplement with your lapatinib (Tykerb). Lapatinib is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab (test tube) studies that compound slowed CYP3A4 down by about a third. If that happens in the body, your lapatinib could clear more slowly and build up, which can mean stronger side effects like diarrhea, nausea, rash, fatigue, and in rare cases heart rhythm changes.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical and based only on lab data, not human studies. Still, lapatinib is serious cancer therapy, so please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding any supplement like this.

About Lapatinib

What Is Lapatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tykerb

Lapatinib tablets are used in combination with other medicines to treat certain types of advanced or metastatic breast cancer in patients whose tumors overexpress HER2 (a protein that drives tumor growth). It is not used alone.

Specifically, lapatinib tablets are used with capecitabine for HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer in patients who have already received prior therapy (including certain chemotherapy drugs and trastuzumab). Lapatinib tablets are also used with letrozole for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer when hormonal therapy is appropriate. Tykerb is the brand name product with these same indicated uses.
