These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
African Wild Potato interacts with whole categories of medication. Sildenafil Citrate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with African Wild Potato in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Sildenafil Citrate
Sildenafil Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group African Wild Potato interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body uses liver enzymes to clear sildenafil out of your system. In test-tube studies, African Wild Potato appears to slow one of those enzymes (CYP2C9). If that same effect happened in people, sildenafil could linger a bit longer and feel stronger than expected. For Viagra, that might mean more of the usual side effects, like headache, facial flushing, a stuffy nose, indigestion, or dizziness, and possibly a bigger drop in blood pressure.
But here's the important part: this is only a laboratory finding, and it hasn't been shown in actual humans. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since both can lower blood pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Sildenafil Citrate also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down sildenafil and clear it out. In test tube studies, African Wild Potato slowed that enzyme quite a bit. If the same thing happened in real life, sildenafil could hang around longer and build up, which might mean stronger or longer-lasting side effects like headache, flushing, a stuffy nose, dizziness, or a noticeable drop in blood pressure.
Here's the honest part: this concern comes only from lab data, not from people. In an actual human study, this plant did not change levels of another CYP3A4 drug. So the real-world risk is uncertain and probably modest. Still, since both can lower blood pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
