Donepezil falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Agar interacts with.

Agar forms a thick gel, which may disrupt the absorption of nutrients and medications. Animal research suggests that consuming a diet consisting of 5% to 10% agar alters the absorption of nutrients from the diet. In one study, consuming a diet composed of 10% agar reduced the absorption of all evaluated minerals. Theoretically, agar may also impair the absorption of oral drugs.

Here's the simple version with agar and donepezil. Agar is a seaweed fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach and gut. The concern is that this gel could trap or slow down whatever else is in there, including your donepezil, so a little less of the medicine might get absorbed. If that happened, you might notice less benefit for memory and daily function.

I want to be honest: this is only a theoretical worry based on the way agar behaves and some animal studies, not real proof in people taking donepezil. The interaction is rated minor. To be safe, you can space them apart, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding agar so they can guide your timing.
