Toremifene citrate tablets — sold as Fareston and under the generic name toremifene citrate — are used to treat metastatic breast cancer (breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body) in postmenopausal women. It is specifically approved for tumors that test positive for estrogen receptors, or for tumors where the receptor status is not known.
