Here's the gist with flutamide and the herb arrach. This isn't about arrach changing how your body processes the medicine. Instead, both can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Flutamide itself is known to cause photosensitivity, meaning you can sunburn faster or break out in a rash with sun exposure. Some goosefoot-family plants like arrach have been linked to the same kind of reaction, so stacking them could add up.

I'll be honest: this is a theoretical concern based on plant chemistry, not solid human studies, so I don't want you to panic. Still, since there's no real proof arrach helps anything, the safe move is to check with your pharmacist or oncologist before combining them, and practice good sun protection while on flutamide.

Arrach (Chenopodium vulvaria) is a strong-smelling European herb that has been used in traditional folk medicine, mainly for menstrual and nervous complaints. There is very little modern scientific evidence to show that it works or is safe, so it is not recommended, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using any herbal product.

What Is Flutamide Used For?

Brand names: Eulexin, Euflex

Eulexin (flutamide) capsules are used to treat prostate cancer in men. They are always used together with an LHRH agonist (a hormone-lowering injection), never alone.

Eulexin is indicated for two stages of prostate cancer: locally confined Stage B2-C prostate cancer (used alongside goserelin acetate and radiation therapy, starting eight weeks before radiation begins) and Stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread beyond the prostate, taken with an LHRH agonist until the disease progresses).
