A man taking flutamide (Eulexin) to block testosterone during prostate cancer treatment cannot afford big swings in the drug's level, and most of the 189 supplements on this page are capable of causing exactly that. The bulk of them work through the liver enzyme CYP3A4, which breaks flutamide down. Of the three rated major, grapefruit can push the drug's level up, St. John's wort can pull it down far enough to blunt a cancer treatment, and activated charcoal can block absorption outright.

The 143 moderate entries mostly echo those enzyme effects with thinner evidence, though about 20 add to sun sensitivity, a problem flutamide can already cause on its own, and even caffeine or guarana may slow the drug's breakdown.
