Flutamide falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Khella interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might result in increased photosensitivity. Khella constituents can cause photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the simple version: this isn't about how your body breaks down flutamide or how well it fights prostate cancer. Both flutamide and khella can independently make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Flutamide is already known to cause photosensitivity on its own, and khella's compounds (khellin and visnagin) can do the same. Stack them together and you may sunburn faster or more severely than you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you, this is a theoretical concern backed mostly by anecdotal reports, so it's not a sure thing. Still, it's easy to play it safe: wear sunscreen, cover up, and limit strong sun exposure. Before adding khella, run it by your pharmacist or doctor, since it has limited evidence in supplement form.

What Is Flutamide Used For?

Brand names: Eulexin, Euflex

Eulexin (flutamide) capsules are used to treat prostate cancer in men. They are always used together with an LHRH agonist (a hormone-lowering injection), never alone.

Eulexin is indicated for two stages of prostate cancer: locally confined Stage B2-C prostate cancer (used alongside goserelin acetate and radiation therapy, starting eight weeks before radiation begins) and Stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread beyond the prostate, taken with an LHRH agonist until the disease progresses).
