Flutamide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, chanca piedra might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract increases CYP1A2 activity. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Flutamide (Eulexin). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to process this medication. In lab studies (test tube only, not in people), chanca piedra appears to speed that enzyme up. If that held true in the body, your liver might clear flutamide a little faster, which could in theory lower the amount working against your prostate cancer.

I'll be honest with you: this is purely theoretical and has never actually been reported in a person, so I don't want you to panic. But since flutamide is part of your cancer treatment, this isn't something to guess about. Please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding chanca piedra so nothing undercuts your therapy.

Theoretically, use of chanca piedra might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for flutamide (Eulexin) and chanca piedra. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process flutamide. In lab dish studies, chanca piedra appears to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let flutamide build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more of its typical side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, hot flashes, breast tenderness, or strain on the liver.

The big caveat: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in real people, so we honestly don't know how meaningful it is. Flutamide already needs liver monitoring on its own, so I wouldn't add chanca piedra without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist. Please don't change anything on your own.

About Flutamide

What Is Flutamide Used For?

Brand names: Eulexin, Euflex

Eulexin (flutamide) capsules are used to treat prostate cancer in men. They are always used together with an LHRH agonist (a hormone-lowering injection), never alone.

Eulexin is indicated for two stages of prostate cancer: locally confined Stage B2-C prostate cancer (used alongside goserelin acetate and radiation therapy, starting eight weeks before radiation begins) and Stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread beyond the prostate, taken with an LHRH agonist until the disease progresses).
